GEOINNOVATION explores geology, geotechnics, and the environment. We connect field observations, geophysical investigation, and numerical modeling to understand ground conditions and support practical decisions.
ScrollGEOINNOVATION is a privately held research company based in Daegu, Korea. Our work spans engineering geology, geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, geophysics, and hydrogeology. We connect field investigations with numerical modeling and research on inverse problems and uncertainty, and develop practical software for data analysis and interpretation.
The questions we work on, ordered from the surface downward.
We study soil and rock behavior, slope stability, and the influence of groundwater on ground conditions. Field investigations, geophysical surveys, and numerical modeling support the assessment of geotechnical conditions and risks.
We estimate recharge from water-table fluctuation (WTF) records and report how much each estimate can be trusted. Both recession-curve analysis and Kalman-filter methods are covered.
We investigate subsurface structures and properties using electrical resistivity, seismic, electromagnetic, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), gravity, and magnetic methods. Our research integrates survey design, data processing, forward modeling, and inversion to support geological, geotechnical, groundwater, and environmental investigations.
Using Fisher information and the Cramér–Rao bound, we establish the theoretical limits of recharge and resistivity estimates, and use that framework to decide whether more data or a different model is needed.
We are developing a site-selection and pre-assessment methodology for managed aquifer recharge and validating it against field data.
